KnoWEwell has appointed Tom O’Bryan, DC, CCN, DACBN, to serve as our inaugural Chief Health Officer. In this role, Dr. O’Bryan will have the responsibility of guiding our mission to bridge public health knowledge and healthcare. He will ensure alignment with our growing network of collaborative partners and serve as a key educator for our global community of individuals, employers and their employees, practitioners, and healthcare industry leaders.
Dr. O’Bryan, known to many as Dr. Tom, is considered the “Sherlock Holmes” of chronic disease. He teaches that recognizing and addressing the underlying mechanisms that activate an immune response is the map to better health. He holds teaching positions with the Institute for Functional Medicine and the National University of Health Sciences. Dr. O’Bryan is an internationally recognized speaker and book author, who focuses on food sensitivities, environmental toxins, and autoimmune disease. He has trained and certified tens of thousands of practitioners around the globe in the advanced understanding of the impact of wheat sensitivity and its impact on autoimmune disease.
Dr. O’Bryan kicked off his association with KnoWEwell with a live, on-demand webinar series, “Tuesdays with Dr. Tom”—an educational series to help individuals and families on their healing journey—and a bi-monthly lecture series for practitioners. The health of the gut was the subject of both of these events.
KnoWEwell is also pleased to welcome the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT) into our network of mission-aligned partners who inspire and empower individuals to achieve WELLthier LivingTM. Amy Dayries-Ling, host of KnoWEwell’s new webinar series “Healthcare from Your Dentist’s Chair,” marked Children’s Dental Awareness Month with a full feature article. Amy is on the board of IAOMT and a fellow of our collaborative partner the Academy for Integrative Health and Medicine (AIHM).
We honored February national holidays through social media shares, including observance of Heart Health Month with AIHM president, Mimi Guarneri, MD, FACC, ABOIM video Shifting The Healthcare Paradigm, highlights from her article below, as well as KnoWEwell’s five heart health book picks. In honor of Black History month and African American culture and accomplishments, we highlighted the achievements of 10 African American medical pioneers. We also recognized the increasing diversity of physicians as part of our celebration of National Women Physician Day.
In observance of Rare Disease Day, on the last day of February, we spotlighted Pallister Killian Syndrome with a feature article and a special edition of our weekly webinar series “Let’s Talk Special Needs.” In a featured community webinar, we hosted Cecile Raynor, American Society for the Alexander Technique (AmSAT) certified teacher, who shared tips for relieving chronic tension and pain through integrated mind-body awareness. For our Sage Saturday series, Jeff Tkach, the Chief Impact Officer of organic farming pioneer Rodale Institute, shared his insights on Rodale’s Regenerative Healthcare program to heal people and our planet.
We honored Random Acts of Kindness Week by sharing The Science of Kindness and our movement to spread kindness with just one gift of WELLthier Living.
