May 6, 2021

The worldwide pandemic has not only spawned a health crisis, but it has also added fuel to the existing mental health crisis. In May, we host internationally recognized thought-leading organizations and practitioners to help address the crisis and support our community's health and well-being.

Even before COVID-19, the prevalence of mental health conditions in our nation was on the rise, affecting 1 in 5 adults and nearly as many youths. Recent data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicate a significant increase in mental illness from the prior year: “We must treat this as the public health crisis that it is and reverse this trend.”

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. KnoWEwell will be honoring it with FREE weekly mental health programs from mental health trailblazers. Find the full line up below our Insights below. Further, the Community Health Awareness Council (CHAC) will also be hosting FREE weekly virtual workshops designed to promote mental wellness in our community. For nearly 50 years, CHAC has provided high-quality, affordable mental health care to school-based counseling services to support parents, guardians, families, and local communities. Register here.

May is also Celiac Awareness Month. KnoWEwell is honored to welcome the Celiac Society of India to our network of mission-aligned Collaborative Partners who inspire and empower individuals to heal and achieve WELLthier Living.

In support of the COVID-19 crisis in India and Celiac Awareness Month, KnoWEwell’s Chief Health Officer, world-renowned celiac and gluten specialist Dr. Tom O'Bryan, DC (theDR.com Founder) will be featuring a very special educational webinar with thought leaders from The Celiac Society of India, live from India. In this time of crisis, this is a not-to-be-missed program. Register Here

Further, the COVID-19 pandemic is ravaging India, with hospitals full and PPE, oxygen, and ventilators in short supply. Patients are dying as they wait for help in hallways and parking lots. The California-based Miraglo Foundation, an NGO that assists underserved communities, is requesting donations to buy emergency supplies for the Sri Narayani Hospital in Tamil Nadur, with which it has a long-standing relationship.

President and founder of Miraglo, Rauni Prittinen King, and Miraglo board member Dr. Mimi Guarneri, President of the Academy of Integrative Health & Medicine, with the help of generous donors, have grown the hospital from one room to a charitable critical care facility serving 56 villages. Please consider donating to Sri Narayani, which desperately needs N95 masks, oxygen, ventilators, dialysis machines, and more. Learn more and donate here.
